We recently spent two days at B. Bryan Preserve as part of an annual three generation family trip. My mom, daughter and myself had a wonderful time. The room was full of antiques and cool posters. We felt like we were transported back in time a bit. Nice, clean accommodations. We could see the giraffes from our hot tub. The pond in the back of our cottage was pretty and serene.
The animals are well cared for, and the tour is a must.

Wonderful stay in the Giraffe cottage with a view of the giraffes from our window! The private hot tub was amazing and the beds were comfortable. Taking a privtae tour and beeing able to learn about the animals was great, plus feeding the giraffes was a dream. A truly magical experience!

I will eat my hat. Initially shocked about charging for infants, our 11 month old was able to see the animals out the car window and feed the giraffe. He didn't know what to make of it, but I'm confident it was a great experience. (younger than 6 months old may be a different experience)

This was such a cool thing to do on a quick weekend road trip to Mendocino! We didn't get to see the ox since they recently had a baby and hung out in their shack, but the rest of the animals were out and about, and Sunny the giraffe was a wonderful host, hanging out with us for quite a while even after we ran out of food to give him. P.S. don't skip the boutique. I found a real gem in the vintage clothing section!

This is a review for the self driving tour only. So, I liked it but having come from the Bay Area, I don’t think it’s worth the trip. If you’re passing by, by all means check it out. If you’re driving any more than 30 minutes for it, I think you’d have some fatigued kids.

The place is small and took all of 10-15 minutes to drive through. The giraffe feeding was fantastic and the highlight of the trip.

We did the car tour of the preserve. We learned a lot about the different kinds of zebras. I agree the giraffe feeding was the highlight of the tour. Make sure you get there on time so you can maximize the time you get.

For anyone seeking a very special unique experience on the California coast that is a hidden gem of beautiful animals and great people, visit B. Bryan Preserve. They care for some of the most beautiful African animals and have created an environment for preservation and fun education. They have at least 3 species of Zebra in addition to species of antelope and 4 of the most handsome giraffe, the tallest at over 18 feet tall.

There are multiple tour options but the most immersive private tour will bring you face to face with zebra and giraffe….it is well worth it to have such a personal experience. It should be on your bucket list!

On site are also the coziest cottages with incredible vintage design, very comfortable furnishings and a view of the giraffe paddock. We went outside to walk to downtown for breakfast (a very short walk, about 10 minutes) to find 3 of the giraffe munching away on some tall branches in the morning sun. Very cool.

The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, warm, kind and informative. They welcome all of your questions and address them with kindness and a wealth of knowledge.

If you want to plan a special trip, B. Bryan Preserve is worth it. It will create lifelong memories while helping an incredibly organization that relies on guests to fund its mission. It’s a win-win for everyone.

Special thanks to our guide Sierra for giving us such an amazing experience to cherish!
