They bought my mortgage soon after signing for it. They are pretty useless. Hard to get a hold of them and told different things by different representatives. When you need it, they are not helpful at all. All around frustrating. Its now been 6 years and I wish they never purchased my loan.

Wish they did not have my mortgage. Every year the escrow account is magically short and even when paying the shortage my payment jumps to the higher amount. Elaine was such a pleasure to talk to in Mortgage Servicing… not. She laughed when I told her I don’t understand how doubling the shortage still made my payment go up. She was glad to explain it to me since I can’t read and understand the statement they sent. Don’t dare say “pissing me off” or they’ll act like you threatened their lives. Worst customer service every year when I have to call.

Our mortgage was sold to this "debt collector" (their words) 3 months after it was opened. Their policies are not an industry standard. They are put into place to purposefully make you delinquent. They have accepted multiple payments from me to only then cancel and refund WEEKS after it was received. Therefore, making payments late. Now I have a 30 days past due on my credit and apparently this is legal, because disputing it did nothing. I'm patiently awaiting lower rates so I can refinance with a local bank and finish any business with this scam of a company.

Update: I'm not confident that the low "one star" reviews are the rest of the story. I'm not sure how folks pay their bills, with what insurance companies they are dealing with or the Colonial side of the story is, which I see they don't say for obvious privacy reasons and not to embarass the reviewer. As I mentioned below, this is our third mortgage with Colonial. On our second, as I was going through job losses, we were making late payments. Unaware that the late charges had built up, when we attempted to pay off the loan Colonial worked with us. The third loan, I discuss below. I rarely had to stay on hold because Eric and Leah responded to all my electronic communications. None were needed to be answered "right now." Taking the time to get it right was easy when the communication is within the realms of their capability. If they did say "no" on any issue it was well explained. Again, I don't know the details of all the negative reviews but as you can see Colonial does not fill in the gaps. Take your time. Get the right agent. Communicate regularly. For me, that worked.

Eric, Leah, the rest of the team, and Stephanie with the Title Company led me through the tedious process. I am glad I paid no attention to the radio ADS saying we can close your loan in 15-days or less. Time, details, relationship, and the final result were all done to our satisfaction. This is our third loan with Colonial. Starting a relationship with Colonial is worth it. Now is the time to Go Colonial, whether a new home, a refi, or cash out at today's low-interest rates.

I’m Attempting to get a mortgage payoff statement has been a nightmare. Called Friday afternoon and waited for nearly 2 hours to speak with a rep who said it would be faxed by 5pm eastern. It was not. Called back Monday morning and waited for 30 min to speak with a rep who said that the quote was generated and confirmed the fax number, and said it would be faxed shortly. Two hours later it hasn’t been received. Called back and after 1hr 50min on hold, the call disconnected. This is absolutely unacceptable! On call #4 now to get a payoff statement requested last week.
